Marc Tassilly,

LSF Class of 2008, Director, Head of PB Belgian and French Desk, Credit Suisse AG Zurich

As a Private Banker, you need to be able to provide your clients with the best service and to help them to take the right decisions. For this, you need to have very good finance skills in every field of the banking industry. This is why I decided to apply for the MSc Banking and Finance. It gave me very good insight and helped me to develop my professional skills. The week in New-York at the New York Stern School of Business was magical! Thanks also to all the professors from all over the world for having challenged us during those 2 years.

Raymond Mugabo

LSF Class of 2010

I first did Computer Sciences Engineering at the university but afterwards I wanted to turn my career to Finance so I chose to do the Master in Banking and Finance at the Luxembourg School of Finance. The reason I chose this program is because of the great quality of the topics covered, the great quality of the Professors who come from top universities around the world and also because this is probably the best program offered in Finance in Luxembourg. I also like the quality of the students who are motivated professionals from different sectors and this allows interesting exchanges and networking.

Christian Knauff, Head of Internal Accounting and Human Ressources, Orangefield Trust (Luxembourg) SA

LSF Class of 2008

I started my career at Arthur Anderen in 2000 as a junior accountant. It was a very challenging environment that pushed me to develop my knowledge and skills and which eventually led to new opportunities. At a certain point, I was looking for a program that would help me grow on a professiopnal basis and I came across the MS in Banking and Finance at the LSF. One of my colleagues had just done the program and the LSF had a very good reputation, although it only had a 3-year existance at the time. So I decided to enroll. Academically and professionally, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. In my opinion, it's the quality of the professors that is the most important component of the success of this Master degree. The topics covered are well chosen and are presented with a lot of practical examples that are based on the professor's own experience in most cases. I have learned a lot of valuable things in the two years I studied and I apply this in my job everyday. Mostly impotantly however, I have met very interesting people -both professors and students- and many have become professional contacts and in some cases, even friends.

Pierre Triniane, Head of Project Management Office, European Fund Administration S.A.

LSF Class of 2009

My major tasks are related to implementing projects related to the back-office of the funds (UCITS funds, hedge funds, Special Investment Funds, Unit Link and other specific funds). These projects address the needs of the different internal business lines and customers. It is then vital not only to understand correctly the fundamentals of funds and banking but it is also essential to understand the new trends and services the industry is facing. In the past, I had attended few courses on fund accounting, derivates, funds distribution and other topics. I was not really satisfied and in some case even disappointed.

Professor Yves Wagner did an impressive speech at my company on the Luxembourg financial center and the necessity of education in an ever evolving world. After few investigations on the exact scope, I quickly realized that the LSF Master in Banking and Finance was the education I was looking for.

I started in January 2007. Now, the two years are almost (unfortunately) over as the courses have finished few days ago. I really enjoyed them even if it was very demanding. The content of the courses gave me many insights and explanations on the topics that I face regularly in my job.
The course are well balanced, covered all important aspects of the financial world we need to be aware of. They reviewed the theories by covering the foundations (even if some can appear as antique) and covered latest developments. They also include practical exercises. I should add that the courses also provided us with the skills and a lot of useful information that will allow us to go further alone when it will necessary.

The professors who came from all around the world were brilliant because they not only fully master their subjects but also because they love teaching and really know how to fill with enthusiasm a class. They have also opened our eyes and our minds as they teach "global" without forgetting to include a taste of Luxembourg in their international cocktail.

I have really appreciated the international atmosphere that was present when we had to perform works in group. It was very valuable to discuss points with people that have a different background and education.

The only thing I regret so far is the fact that there is an end.

Isabelle Mangin, Brown Brothers Harriman

LSF Class of 2005

The cultural and professional diversity of the participants as well as the truly international and broad scope of the program makes LSF at the same time a personally very enriching experience while providing students with a solid understanding of the global forces at work in finance and banking.
