LSF in the Press
Below are a series of articles on various subjects relating to the LSF that we though would be of interest.
Luxembourg School of Finance’s inaugural lecture at the University of Luxembourg by Prof. Thorsten Lehnert and Prof. Theoharry Grammatikos
During the last LSF’s inaugural lecture, Prof. Thorsten Lehnert presented a conference about the recent financial crisis and its impact on academic research in finance. He mentioned that research on derivatives is necessary to prevent a recurrent financial crisis.
The professor of finance said that there are currently many important events to be discussed in an inaugural lecture because a subject as economic and financial crisis has many facets. “It would be impossible to even try to address all of them”. Therefore, he had to make a selection, and his research will focus on pricing and trading of financial derivatives.
He also mentioned that the illusion of assets in accounting books was the problem during the crisis, not derivatives per se.
